Patsy Ann Hammons Koerner's genealogy column was published in the Barbourville Mountain Advocate in the early 1980s. Mrs. Koerner's obituary, taken from Rootsweb website, is included below.

"Patsy Ann Hammons Koerner, 56, of Louisville, passed away Saturday,December 19, 1998 in the Baptist Hospital East in Louisville. She was the daughter of Osa Mae Sturgill Lagron and the late Cecil C. Hammons. She was a music composer, a former executive secretary for the dean of the University of Louisville School of Medicine, a columnist for the Barbourville Mountain Advocate and founder of the Knox County Genealogical Society. Survivors include her husband, Steve Koerner of Louisville; two sons, William Patrick Thompson of Louisville and Daniel Koerner of Phoenix, Ariz.; her mother, Osa Mae Lagron of Holly Hill, Fla.; four brothers, Curtis of Brooks, Paul of Hodgenville, Cecil Jr. of McDaniels and Douglas Hammons of Taylorsville; three sisters, Elizabeth Masterson and Barbara Link, both of Florida and CJ Gilliam of Oregon; and one granddaughter. Funeral services were held in the chapel of the Pearson Funeral Home in Louisville Tuesday, December 22 at 10 a.m. Burial followed in the Evergreen Cemetery. Expressions of sympathy may go to the American Diabetes Association or the National Diabetes Foundation in loving memory of Mrs. Koerner. This is a courtesy announcement from the Knox Funeral Home."
